What to do if I get the message"Installation of Lotus Notes can not be contacted..."?

Exporter reads information about directory where Lotus Notes is installed from the computer registry. This information is written in the registry during Lotus Notes installation.

If you receive the above message it means that this information is not present in the registry or present in an unexpected manner. Exporter was tested with Lotus Notes version 6 and 7. For the earlier versions of Lotus Notes the registry information might be different.

For the versions of Exporter starting from A2.1 you may address this issue by copying lnexport.exe file in the directory which contain notes.exe file.

To verify if registry information is in format expected by Exporter, please follow the below steps:

  • Go Start-Run;
  • In the window type regedit;
  • When registry editor is open go Edit-Find;
  • In the find dialog type Notes.NotesSession
  • Select find in Values and Data only;
  • Start search;
  • When search is complete you will see the screen similar to one below:

  • Then click in the left panel LocalServer32; you will see the screen similar to one below:

  • On the right side you should see the information about installation directory (in case of example C:\Program Files\lotus\notes\notes.exe /Automation)
